1. What is your baseline habit?
I tend to drink about a litre of tea a day. I occasionally go on a binge when I add a large cup of coffee (or 2) to my tea ration for a week or so. But I always have at least 2 cups of tea a day.
2. What was your worst daily dose?
In grade 12 & 1st year university, I used to drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day. I don't remember when I stopped drinking so much of it, but I was at about 2 cups of coffee a day for years. Then I started having stomach ache reaction to it around 2001 and switched to first black tea and then green tea. In 2005 I started drinking all teas and coffee again.
3. What is your goal?
To only drink green and black tea occasionally (like once a week or so), and to only ever drink decaf coffee (if at all). I get anxiety with any caffeine intake lately, and coffee makes my skin break out if I drink it more than a couple times a week. I want to cleanse.
4. How are you doing?
It's day 4. I've been drinking Twig Tea and herbal tea this weekend, which hasn't quite been satisfying but I'm proud of myself. Twig tea is from the branches of Bancha black tea plant, and it has a negligible amount of caffeine.
5. What is your problem area?
Boredom. Caffeine makes me feel momentarily inspired at work/home and it makes my thoughts go faster. I also really really like the ritual of making tea.
